I guess I will have to buy the whole set right?

Does anyone use Proactiv, I've heard about the amazing things it can do. Does it really help? How long do I need to use it for?

If you have mild acne, don't spend your money on Proactiv. There is a cheaper version at Wal-mart called AcneFree. You can even buy a sample pack for a couple bucks to see if you like it before you buy full size.

I bought Proactiv about a year ago for my medium-mild acne. The whole process takes like 5 minutes, which is a long time compared to other acne medications. Especially in the morning, I never had time to do it. I am usually not patient when it comes to acne medicine, so I skipped half the steps. Therefore it didn't work that well for me. Typically though, it takes 4-6 weeks to see a difference (don't pay attention to any of that clearer skin in 1 week crap).

We bought Proactiv for $40 dollars, with like 2 day shipping. My mom agreed only to buy it if we would send it back at the end of the 30 day period if I didn't see a difference. We sent it back and got a full refund.

I think now the price is lowered to $20, but that may be just for the first time. Each month they send you a new shipment and you have to pay each month (something they dont tell you in the commercials).

So, bottom line is that I would try AcneFree. I tried it and it worked pretty good although I only did it for about a month. Later, we went to my dermatologist and she told me to take a pill every day before bed and put some gel on my face. This has been a lot easier than 3 step Proactiv/AcneFree and I have really seen a difference. A lot cheaper too (20 dollars for gel and pills combined).

Ask for dermatologist about pills for acne.. I think mine are called Doxycline and the gel is Tretion.

Good luck!

If you call their number as advertised in magazines and on TV, you get it for $20 plus shipping. And it has worked for a few of my friends, but not for my best friend. I used it for a little while and it dried my skin out, but I have sensitive skin. So really it depends on who you are. I'd try the cheaper alternatives first- like Clean & Clear or Neutrogena- it's good stuff.
