I am a former math teacher who is now a stay at home mom. I have tutored neighborhood kids and made significant strides with their understanding of math (i.e. their grades went up!). What is reasonable pay for a math tutor with a degree in mathematics education and good references?

I tutor here in Connecticut, I am not a teacher and I only tutor math and some science. I ask for $30/hour, though I could charge more.

As a teacher, you could charge up to $60 / hour in an average area. However, I know a teacher who teaches in some of the more ritzy towns in Florida that gets over $100 an hour.

Just play your cards right, and you can write your ticket...But, if you plan on tutoring underprivileged kids, just charge what they can pay (but they should pay something.)

Math tutors earn an average of $20 to $25 an hour in our region. I would check with the local university, they can give you a ballpark figure if you are just starting out.

Varies by location and demand, can be from $30/hour to $70/hour, sometimes more or less. If you work privately $40/hour is reasonable.
