y intercept is 3.714
x intercept is 3.714/(3./7)=8.67

the x intercept is the place where the line crosses the x axis
this happens where y=0 (think about it, when y is zero, you are not up any on the graph or down any, you are on the x axis)

so, the value of x where y = 0

just put in zero for y and solve

0=-3/7x+3.714
3/7x=3.714
x=3.714*7/3 voila, the x intercept

the y intercept is where x =0

y=-3/7*(0)+3.714
y=3.714 tada, the y intercept

y = - 3/7x + 3.714

For the x intercept, y = 0.
0 = - 3/7x + 3.714
- 3∙714 = - 3/7x
x = - (7/3)(- 3∙714)
x = + 8∙666

For the y intercept, x =0.
y = - 3/7(0) + 3.714
y = + 3.714

The equation is in the form y = mx + c
where m is the gradient and c the intercept on the y axis.

The equation of the line will intercept the y axis when x =0
This gives the y intercept to be 3.714

The line will have an x intercept when y= 0
Therefore the equation becomes,
0 = -3/7 x + 3.714
x=8.666

In order to calculate the intercept of a line, curve at any axis, just put the value of other variable = 0

so, x intercept of this line is, put y = 0

u get, 0 = -3/7x + 3.714

so, x = 3.714 (7/3)
calculate it

for y axis, put x = 0
and u get

y = 3.714

The y intercept is 3.714 You don't need the x intercept. Just go down three and seven to the right (I can't really see the slope, from the way my comp displays it.)
