On the contrary, I see reviewers as tending to be Guilty Liberals who compensate by overpraising what Black people do. So if they give a bad review to a Black movie, it must REALLY be bad. Like Pootie Tang. The problem with Balck movies is that too few have serious purpose, and the rest are set at a low level. But those make money, and the serious ones do not. Make of that what you will.

The real reason that there are few good Afro-Am. films is because people make best what they know. White people trying to direct a film of this genre are imitating stuff they've seen in the media, and they are not drawing from actual experience. Most of the filmmakers can't make a good film of every genre, let alone an exploitation film, which is what most of them are. The only way to get good black films is to get more afro-am. filmmakers producing and directing via an indepandent circuit. The internet will allow this to happen, now the interested people just need to step up to the plate and take the initiative.

I don't think reviewers have an agenda to "dis" movies directed at the African American community.
The fact is, they are just bad movies
Spike Lee makes great films (sometimes) - but by and large AfAm movies suck

I think its because, unfortunately, the people who produce the black movies tend to portray black people in a negative and ignorant way. Thus perpetuating the stigma. Its unfortunate.

I hate how people put down people because of their race, religion, etc. Even if someone doesn't understand the culture, they don't have to be so degrading or prejudice.
