These will be used in a humid screen porch. Brand recommendations would be appreciated. I don't know if I want to buy cheap and disposable/replaceable or buy really good ones. Either way I'd prefer they don't rust terribly. Personal experiences with different brands and models would be appreciated. They don't necessarily have to oscilate. Alternately I suppose I could buy a wall mountable fan...

Only wall mountable or pedestal fans are possible. It is a new aluminum roofed screen porch and is not designed for ceiling fan or high enough for one either.

Caframo make some very small, plastic but extremely powerful fans. They will not rust. I have one that my little brother gave me and it is about as powerful as a large 20" fan. The difference is that it never wears out and it's very compact.

Here is a link to their website:

I have their 707 model. Here is a link to a company that not only sells it, but will give you a lifetime guarantee on the fan:

Hope this helps.

You can find plastic pedestal fans at your local discount stores.
I have purchased a few myself a few years ago, and they are still working as good as new, not bad for a $19.99 plastic fan. I got my monies worth. Suggestion: Also, since you have humid conditions, you might want to buy some charcoal and filter fibers (used in fish tanks) . Put the charcoal in the bottom of a bucket, fill half way,
add the filter fibers on top, then place a few of these in the porch area to help absorb some of the humidity.....as the fans do the cooling.

Is it such you could put in a ceiling fan? I've found even the more expensive pedestal fans will rust from being in a very humid place.

I would go with the wall mount fan.
