I'm excited about my pregnancy but I was just wondering, as I always do, about what the baby will look like!

So, any of you who understand alot about biology and genetics, help me!

I have dark brown, my mom has light blue and my dad has dark brown eyes.
My boyfriend has green eyes, his dad has dark brown and his mom has green/blue.
So, what is the likelihood of our baby having green or blue eyes?

Also, I'm 5'2 and 1/2" tall.
He is 6'5".
What height is our child more apt to get? My shortness or his tallness??

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I don't think height is as easy to determine by dominant and recessive genes. Brown eyes are dominant however. Your baby will have a 75% chance of having brown eyes, and 25% chance of having blue. Straight hair is also dominant, so is a widows peek and detached earlobes. I dont' know if you have any of these things, but it might help. Have fun, and God Bless

I might add that green and blue eyes are considered the same. They are both recessive. There's probably no way of telling if they will be blue or green. What the guy under me said is true. It really is just a roll of the dice. However it's easier to tell what your child will have if you both have recessive genes. For example, my boyfriend and I both have blue eyes, and it's impossible for two recessive genes to make a dominant, I knew that our baby would have blue eyes. We also both have straight hair. It is possible to have two dominant genes and still have a curly haired child, but I knew it was rare. I was pretty sure she would have straight hair, and she does. It's so fun guessing!!

Although dominant/recessive can play a major role, there is no guarantee that the dominant will always dominant. And if both of you carry the same recessive genes, then the baby can have that one. So basically, YOU CAN'T TELL for sure until the baby is born.

It's likely your baby will be born with whatever it gets. For example, our oldest has brown eyes, tall, VERY curly brown hair, and looks more like me. Our youngest, blue eyes, blondish hair, more straight hair, looks more like mom, and can't tell height yet.. really hasn't stretched out.

In short, there's no way to predict, it's all in the roll of the dice.

To get the most accurate information, go to a search engine (like google.com or mamma.com) and type in the information you are seeking. I would also search for some prenatal websites and type in searches of dominant and recessive genes (in addition to any other information you are seeking) and read up on it!
