not any more.older light sets did,tech has improved since then.

It depends on how the string of lights are set up. If they all run on the same wire, then the answer is yes. But if they have the braided wire where if one goes out none of the others do, then the answer would be no.

The old ones that were connected in series used to have this problem. But the newer ones are parallel connected.

it depends on whether it is connected in series or parallel. those in parallel usually runs with 3 wires
