First of all - it is NOT too soon for you to go into labor. You are 38 weeks & full term is anywhere from 37-42 weeks. Generally, braxton-hicks are only felt in the belly - like it is balling-up & tightening around the baby. My doctor, and other information I've read has said that if they are in your back then you are most likely in labor! By the time you read this, you may be on your way to the hospital, in which case - CONGRATULATIONS! Otherwise, keep an eye on them & watch for other signs - water breaking/leaking, diarreah, loss of mucous plug, bloody show. GOOD LUCK!

Boy do I know what you're going through. When I was pregnant with my 3rd child, I had Braxton Hicks so bad, I went to the hospital. the contractions were 4 min. apart and the doctor said i should deliver soon. I was even dialated 9 centimeters. At 12 midnight, everything stopped. In the morning, the doc was shocked I was still there. He said he never had a patient that was dialated like that with contractions so close. He never saw B.H. so bad. it was another 2 weeks before my daughter was born. In any case, you can get them in your back, or pelvis area. It just means that is probably where your labor will be. If it continues, call your doc. Good luck. Have a healthy baby.

It kind of sounds like you may be in labor, I'm not a doctor or anything, but I've had 3 children, so I know a little bit about it. But it kind of depends on close you are to your due date, and if they are getting more intense. If so, try to get as comfortable as you can before you go to the hospital because your baby is ready to see his/her mommy and you have a long day ahead of you. Congratulations anyway!!!!

It doesnt matter how far along you are, you need to see a doctor. Even if its 8 minutes appart. Because if its too soon, then they can stop it.
Please dont let it go too far.
Go to the hospital.
