To me, the "best countries in the world" should be judged by having the lowest corruption levels, lowest crime, best living standards, better access to healthcare and greater levels of social equality and equality of opportunity.
According to the UN, the countries that consistently rank at the top of those statistics are those located in Scandinavia and northernmost europe, namely Norway, Iceland, Sweden and Finland.

Guess, trust me India is DEFINTELY not the best country, just because it has many different languages the corruption there is unbeleivable, dealing with safety issues, and so on. If you know what 1984 the corrupted governement did to the Sikhs you would be suprised beacuse most of the world doesn't know about the pure genocide.
Living in America, or Canada you have a sense of saftey you can't be afraid of what you say and what could be the consequences. I beleive in America would be the best place to live for the job oppurtunites and the economy is much cheaper. Canada would be a great place to retire, it's just so peaceful having nothing on your mind to worry about.

It all depends on how you define BEST. If you love sailing avoid countries like Lichtenstein or Switzerland. If you love basking on a warm sunny beach Canada is not for you.
However if you like high towering mountains, beautiful scenery, and classical music, Austria is best. If you consider best, the place where it all started, all of our traditions, language, fairy tales, kids stories like Old King Cole - - Jack and the Bean Stalk, Little Boy Blue, The Crooked Man, Little Miss Muffit, and the settings , buildings, and scenery, then England is the best.
If by BEST you mean somewhere where you can join a group of happy people dressed in leder hosen and gams bards singing Munchener Hoof Brau Haus - - - try Germany.
Maybe the best place to you would be where you can rest your brain. China and Cuba come to mind. In those and the other dictatorships the government will do all the thinking for you.
Of course, you will never find all of what you like in one country, so the best thing to do is to get as much as you can. After weighing all of the pros and cons, you'll always end up in the old US of A.

How do you rate best? Give some criteria, because otherwise, every country in the world is the best - to each who loves her/his country, her/his country is the best.

well, different people might have different opinions, and i think that india is the best country in the world because it's a cultural goldmine. i mean, they speak over 75 different languages in an area that is about a third of the US. besides, where do you think yoga came from?

All of them have positive attributes. Governments change and one day one country will be better and then the next some somewhere else will be better. No one best.
