I have two college students (twins). They now have laptops.
Do you buy the extra coverage? What has been your overall experience. One is a girl who will be commuting home by air.
The other is a boy who will be driving home, but perhaps occasionally flying. What kind of damage have you incurred, if any, and how was it resolved, either with or without insurance.

Since you have 2 college students the replacement warranty is the best thing in the world. God only knows what goes on in the dorm. Remember that Dell commercial out a few years ago where the bed falls on the kids laptop. Need I say more

If you have an expensive laptop (1200+) then I would definitely get it. They will completely replace it if necessary, say if you just accidently drop it. I had mine for six months, and the motherboard fried for no reason, and they had me a brand new one out in less than two weeks. Plus, most insurances will give you one replacement battery, even if yours is still in good shape.
Keep in mind, though, that it rarely ever covers liquid damage. So, no coffe spills.

If you're talking about an extended service policy, it's a good idea for laptops. They're awfully expensive to fix once the warranty expires otherwise.

On the other hand, if they're cheap machines and/or you plan to replace them every year or two anyway, I wouldn't bother with the extended service.
