The scoring system came from the French and may have represented seconds or time.
There are proposals to go to a simplified 4 pt system with advantages and deuces, but the purists balk at that idea.

no, the scores are 0 - 4 points. 0 pts = Love
1 pts = 15 pts
2 pts = 30 pts
3 pts = 45 pts
4 pts = game

Actually it is like this: 0, 15, 30, 40 and if your opponent catches up with you then it becomes Deuce, AD, Game but if your opponent catches up with you after 40 it is Game.
