It has been said by some in the US that the erosion of democracy and free speech is occuring in the current administration.

What two loudly shouted cornerstones of liberal/democrat philosophy limits free speech, truth and intellectual freedom?

Do you find this hypocritical?

the point of the question is to see if you believe that two key points of the democratic party followers are hypocritical when it comes to our basic rights. All I hear today is how the administration is taking our rights yet right there the yelling and screaming hoard are doing it on a daily basis. I do not see where Pat liberal concepts to smear anyone, merely pointing out the hypocrisy. I have listened to Pat speak and she is one of the fairest people I know, more than willing to debate issues on facts and merit. I believe you are wrong in saying that does not respect differing opinions. But thanks anyway. Where were you when I ask about Katrina and the UN?

I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

Do I find it hypocritical that someone is saying many of todays liberals are unfocused and without a clear agenda? No. That's commentary, from someone with perspective.

Is it hypocrtitical that this author, who from his tone clearly does not approve the of the current liberal movement, uses liberal concepts as a way to smear his opponents? No. That's just political tactics.

Is the author himself hypocritical. No. He doesn't value tolerance or diversity, and he makes that clear by not respecting opinions that are different than his own.

I think you need to look no further than Sec. Rumsfeld's comments the past few days. This administration has tried it's best to erode free speech using their "if you're not with us you're with the terrorists" rhetoric. We need leaders in our country who are strong and stand up for what they believe in but at the same time open minded enough to listen to opposing view points and heaven forbid........even admit they might be wrong!! It's the way a democracy is supposed to work.

you can say anything that you want, about the president or any body of government, back in the day in england, you were arrested for talking trash about any persons of the government. but in the us you could talk trash about the government in barsor the newspapers and there was no consequences. as long as there was nothing threatining, and still today i can say anything i want about any part of the government.
