My van wont start, and i have replaced the voltage regulator and the coil. i have puchased a new ballast resistor but cannot find the old one to switch out.

Does this one have Lean Burn ignition? You can spot that by a distributor with no vacuum advance. If so, there won't be any ballast resistor.

If you have a conventional distributor, the ballast resistor is going to be on the firewall.
