I generally don't wear makeup. I kept my nails on both hands short so that I could play guitar and type. (I took computer science and programming courses in highschool... I was the only chick out of 30-something guys in the class, some were pretty cute, too!)

I did the whole "goth" thing during highschool and bought my first black lipstick when I was 14, I think. I remember sneaking that... it was crazy back then. (I say this now as a tattooed and pierced chick.) I've worn makeup a bit, but it's a huge hassle and guys asked me out (dates) either way. My fiance complains sometimes that I'm not feminine enough and suggests a change in makeup. To be honest, he wore the pink lipstick and silver or metallic pink nail polish more than I did! (He used to make me happy by dressing femme sometimes... you'd have to see him -- fullsleeve, hand, knuckle, chest, and leg tattoos, then a few piercings (now none), and a huge, muscular "bear"/biker-type guy... with shiny nails and pretty pink lips!

I'm 21 now and I think I may try to get a look down for when I get married (we're still deliberating on whether we'll have a wedding ceremony) ...I live with my partner and didn't wear makeup before I moved in with him and his father (when I was 20), but I've given it fleeting thoughts. I think the goth thing is easier for me to pull off, especially since most "preppy" looks don't involve a stud through the upper and lower lips!

you shouldn't really wear make up until you are about 11-10 and you should only want to wear lip gloss thought. But for any other make-up you should be at least 13- adult. You shouldn't wear makeup a lot because if you are wearing it to school people would talk about you only wear it for a special occasion.

I was just out of eigth grade and was heading into high school. I kept it light though, at the time I couldn't stand makeup, so in all honesty that helped. But I would wait until you are about 15 or 16 before wearing makeup, and always keep it light.

I think I began wearing cover up when I was 12, just to hide my zits. Then gradually I began adding little things like lip gloss and blush. I still don't do a lot now , because I don't feel that it is really necessary. If you do wear make up though keep it subtle because the secret to make up is to make it look like you are not wearing any.

For full makeup, I'd say 20. For eyue shadow and lip gloss and mascara and eyeliner, I'd say 12-13. If you want to wear lipstick, 20 is the best age.

I think at 12 or 13 maybe like a lip gloss or something could be worn. Maybe at 14 or 15 you could start with suttle eyeshadows, blushes, and lipsticks. You don't need to grow up any faster than you are!

i wasn't allowed to wear make-up until i got into high school which is when i was 14. and even then there were restrictions, basically not too much of anything. when i was in jr high, i use to wear lipstick at school and take it off before i got home, but my mom always knew. looking back, that was dumb of me, because when you are so young, you really don't need make-up. you don't even need it when you're in high school either. many young girls are in such a rush to grow up, they don't realize how pretty they are naturally and that they don't need make up.

I was 13 when I got to wear lipstick and fingernail polish and 16 when I got to wear face makeup.
