I think that without technology we would still be drilling holes in people and using leaches as a treatment for everything in the medical field so technology has actually helped us advance in medicine and also with the science fields so in many ways it has helped cure diseases and helped to better society in general... it also has had negative effects... people have become lazier with the internet and as far as musicians loosing money to music downloads but I dont see them as negative because even if they are downloading songs for free it doesnt cause most people to stop buying the albums.
I think over all the internet has helped and both hurt society, there is a lot of trash on the internet but it also helps us to find out about news and current events and to see and acknowledge whats going on around the world. It helps people connect from different cultural backgrounds like this site and all the international messengers such as yahoo aim and msn... even though it has also created a way to get everything you need without actually going out of your home which creates more lazy americans and can over all cause health problems... So although technology has many bad aspects, the positive out weighs the negative... i could keep going on about the positive influences and the negative influences but I think I will just stop there and reflect lol
Interesting question thanks

The first world is the society with almost all the technology and it's a big part of why it's so messed. We aren't aware of and haven't dealt with how it's changed the world and how we relate to and understand it. There's such a massive amount of information swirling around us all the time it boggles and confuses the mind. A small fraction of people with the access and the know-how to having there message distributed on a mass scale have an undo amount of influence over people do to how powerful and pervasive that technology is and that leads to manipulation, exploitation, political propaganda and indoctrination. Technology coupled with acting techniques can be used to produce a powerful illusion by those people, that illusion can make the people with whom those illusions are projected towards lose grip with reality and not act wisely in there own best int rest if they get too caught up in it.
If people are aware of how to make sense of and access the right information out of the near infinite information out there, and if people are aware of the illusion's people project and how there made, see what people are doing and not just taking what people say at face value, be wary of tricks and tricksters, and all the other changes that technology has intentionally and unintentionally produced in the world, and try to maintain a firm grip on reality then people can adjust for technology and we'll be able to get along with it trying to minimize the negative and maximize the positive aspects.

I think we rely WAAAY too heavily on technology these days. Remember Y2K? The world thought for a little while that we would just totally have a meltdown. I don't know MANY people these days WITHOUT a computer/cell phone/laptop/Ipod/blue tooth, ect... I think it's kind of sad. It's gotten to the point now in my college studies that I am almost REQUIRED to have a computer with word processing software. Some of my lectures I even have to look up ONLINE. *sighs* I think it's sad that technology was meant to make our lives EASIER and instead it's made it more difficult. As we become more and more engrossed in technology, we lose other things that we need. More and more people are becoming hermits and staying to themselves with their computers and video games, and Ipods and such. We are losing our social skills and forgetting how to be nice and get along with other people. Our technology has made it too easy for us now to entertain OURSELVES. Therefore, we don't socialize as much, and as a result, we don't find the wisdom in other people. We don't learn as much as we SHOULD, and in my opinion, with all the technology we have, we forget how to "get back to nature". Which, as a result, makes us less intutitive. Why should we use our OWN brains when we have machines that will do it for us? I think with the advancement of technology, (apart from the people who DESIGN the technology) human IQ is declining, as well as our imaginations and creativity.

inhabitants enhance is a few thing that Doomsday followers have been speaking approximately for years. It became as quickly as believed that the Human inhabitants might desire to no longer exceed 4 billion because of the fact there would not be adequate room on earth for each individual to stay and nevertheless have the potential to consume or perhaps breath. at the instant the inhabitants is around the 6 billion mark and that i for you will nevertheless breath and there continues to be nutrients. in actuality there is feilds that are being left fallow for the subsequent 3 hundred and sixty 5 days or 2 so a extra physically powerful high quality of nutrients might properly be produced. We as a spiecis have the potential to think of and plan for destiny activities. No different animal has that potential or a minimum of to the quantity that we've. A squirle to illustrate isn't storing nuts because of the fact it knows iciness is coming and has to make certain it has adequate for the entire iciness, like a nut an afternoon. It shops nutrients because of the fact that's programed into that's DNA and instincts. i've got at the instant study comments, no longer by ability of a single "scientist" yet ones that have been revealed by ability of an excellent group that truly fairly researched the area and got here up with the variety that if we don't strengthen our modern-day nutrients, housing and straightforward scientific understanding, that the Human inhabitants can attain approximately 12 billion earlier we attain extreme problems. So it takes us approximately 10 years to develop by ability of one billion and that's no longer counting the undeniable fact that the international inhabitants is very ideal heavy because of the fact of this there are alot extra previous human beings than youthful ones. actual there'll be problems that pop up, no person will see them coming and that they are going to be at last delt with. we can proceed to develop as a human beings and our inhabitants will develop besides.

Welllllllll. We wouldn't be having this conversation without the technology. To mix metaphors, I think that once some technological marvel is out of the bag then it's too late to turn back the clock!

Yes I do. It is all a matter of choice. You can choose to grow and keep up, to become a better person yourself tso you are of a beneift to others. Or you can choose to stay behind and not grow, and just live your life out until the end of your days; rarely affecting anyone's lives or helping them. Your choice.
