Hey, it was the African AMericans that were introduced into slavery in America. When they were doing there hard labour in the agriculture of tabacoo they would start singing song's about the blues and hard work they were doing. SO if you can imagine them working hard in the sun and they would all be singing. That was what created the blues music.

This website here is a really cool place to start. The blues all started in Elvis Presley's home town shortly after the Civil War.

I dunno, some historians try to connect the slaves in America blending spirituals with African rhythms.

I HAVE to believe the blues are timeless. I'm sure the Egyptians sang the blues while hauling those giant blocks of stone to build the pyramids!

We know jazz started in new orleans in around 1903. But the blues? I think it's gotta be timeless and it'd be naive for the historians to think it began in the deep south just 200 years ago.

Maybe if this question were honed some .. like "delta blues" or "hillbilly blues" something like that?

Luck on your quest.
