i think you should tell him. if he's really a friend he'll be more sensitive to your feelings. maybe he makes fun of gay people because he doesn't think he knows anyone who is. break his closed minded thought process with your opening up to him. if he doesn't react in a caring way maybe you should find some new friends. it's a huge world. never give up on humanity. the good ones are just hiding. you'll find them. just be yourself : o )

Find some different friends. Join some clubs, a sports team, a charity - what ever. See if there is a gay lesbian community center in your area if they have any activities for you to do. Replace this friend with people that like you for you.
Are you living at home? If you have an understanding family, then come out. If you suspect even for a minute that your family is not understanding, don't tell anyone about you being gay until you are on your own and paying your own bills. We just had a guy on here yesterday asking what to do now because he told his family he was gay while he is still in college and now they don't want to pay for his education.
If you are on your own and paying your own bills, just tell your friend the deal and ask him not to be homophobic around you. If he is no longer your friend because of that then you never had him as a friend to begin with.

Seriously, you should make some gay friends. The friends you have now don't really have much in common with you and you're gonna feel alienated. What will happen when you find someone special or have a sex life? You can run but you can't hide. If they don't like gays, then now you see how they feel about the real you. So why hurt yourself? I know this isn't easy, but you should be honest with them and tell them why it was so hard for you to come out to them. It doesn't matter if any of them accept it or not. THIS IS WHO YOU ARE. Coming out is important in self-identity and you have the right to enjoy a life without going into hiding. I came out at 17 and I never went back into that closet and I NEVER WILL. You don't need ANYONE who refuses to respect you as-is. I truly wish you all the best and I hope you come out. Until you do, you'll never be really happy.

when a friend knows your gay and your not out, they will distance themselve from you around your other friends. i think they do this because they are afraid if someone finds out your gay they will think that they are gay too. if you know your friends don't like gay people then i could keep it to yourself. find new friends that are gay, your current friends may or may not be friends with you any longer, if you don't know any gay people then make friends online to talk to

Time to spend more time with a friend who understands you better for who you are and does not make fun of you. Any friend needs to treat you as a friend

Find a better friend and hang out in different groups that aren't so homophobic.
You could tell your friend and see if he accepts it first though.

If he's making fun of gays, then he's a sad, sick, angry little boy. and if you do it too, then I feel sorry for you. aint that the pot calling the kettle black?

He is not your friend. He is a homophobe. Find some gay friends and don't be ashamed of who you are.
