St Petersburg is placed on the Eastern shore of the Baltic Sea (Gulf of Finland) and it's one of the most northern cities in Europe with such large population. It's fascinatingly beautiful, purposely built to become the most beautiful city in the world. It is also known as Venice of the North, because it is placed on river Neva and placed on "101 islands". It was founded in 1703 and it's rich in history and culture. Currently have a population of about 4,7 million. During communistic times was also known as Leningrad, but got it's original name back in 1991.
