Ive tried defragmenting and all sorts but to no avail. It also wont shut down at night. The box appears saying windows is shutting down but it dosnt. It stays - with the screen on, all night. I have to manual switch off the PC on the tower.
PS...its only 5months old...

It's the only thing to do since someone out there has access to your ports.
They can use your site to download anything to their own.
Write your disc to zero after saving your file to an external drive.
Run every moved through a good Virus protection programme first.
Reboot all your drive
Set your Firewall
Use a Net Barrier

Try pressing CTRL, ALT and DELETE all at once, this will put the little box in the screen centre, hi-lite and zap any stuff that you don't need running.
