Excuse my ignorance; I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to car mechanics beyond changing a tire or oil.

I was told that all BMW's are electronically limited to 150 MPH and that if removed, I will have a greater top speed.

Is this true and if I remove this, will this adversely affect anything else?

Is this complicated to remove?

Most new car like yours and mine 2006 GTO and your M-3 can have customized engine programmers, and new programs can be written and installed. My programmer was made by "Predator Diablo" It eliminated the high speed Governor changed the engines timing and fuel mixture Allows me to change how the cooling fans stay on after hot shut down allow you to recompute the tire size so the anti lock brakes don't freek out. In the case of BMW however you have to be careful not to go to the dealer with the "HOT" program installed Predatior allows you to switch back to stock and reload the custom program after warranty work is finished. BMW will also cancel your warranty for driving autocross's and road racing tracks Use an Alias when at the track tape over license plate numbers.
