Actually, it depends on individual, different people have their own unique way to study. For me, it helps if i make an agenda list first. Let's say i need to study 5 topics today..i would prioritize them according to their importance and after finishing each i would cross it off or put a tick beside it. This basically help you to keep your focus on the right place. I would switch off my mobile phone and turn the computer off, so that my mind can be free of any kind of distraction. If you have a study table and it is facing the open window, it is refreshing for the mind too. Don't keep potato chips around you would end up binging more than studying. I know this is a hard process but in the end it will worth it..... so Study hard!!!

*if you have a text book that you have been reading out of, study the book by rereading over much of everything.
*if you have papers/essays/worksheets, look over them to refresh your memory.
if you have a tape recorder of something that can record your voice, record yourself saying the most important stuff. Then you can replay it while you study, just sit in a chair (and think about the things you are saying) and when you go to bed. Make sure to put it on repeat, that way it will be ingrained in your head!

This has helped my dad become on of the best lawyers in Western WA! It helped him pass final exams in college and everything. I even use it for highschool to pass things like the WASL>>>The last time I took the WASL, I was just average in everything and was close to failing english. This last year in 10th grade, I did everything I said above and passed every part of the test in the Excellent portion (the highest you can be) and in Writing, I scored PERFECT!

SO THIS WORKS!!!!!!!!

* when doing these, use a soothing CD or one of your favorites, softly in the back ground. You will know its too loud if you keep singing it. You just want to have a relaxing, familar backgound!!!!

The best way? All the answers above mine are good. But the best time is: Minutes after you wake up. Fresh out of bed with nothing else in your mind, no worries no tiredness and a mind ready to absorb any information you trow at it. Of course, have a good night sleep and do all the other things you do when you wake up like showering etc.

Study with a friend
When you read a textbook, find what's important and remember it
If you're unclear about anything, be sure to clarify it by asking a teacher or friend
Ask yourself questions that you think the teacher might ask you on a test
And drink lot of water, it clears your head and you can actually remember what you read about

Generally, in small increments of 20-30 minutes, followed by short breaks (5-10 mins). That will maximize your memory intake and make you less tired than long doses of 2-3 hours.

It depends on what subject...for most you need to read the material, highlight important topics, take notes on what you think you may need to remember and go over any pre-tests or practice questions to make sure you undrstand all the objectives.

For math you just need to do lots of different problems daily, maintain a fresh approach to doing them.
