First - Don't change your behavior - I don't think you could really. You may be able to change for a while but your conscience would catch up to you quickly. Believe me, I know.
There is nothing wrong with being a "giver" personality. Yes, you will meet a lot of "taker" personalities and it will seem like it's not worth it.
Eventually, you will meet a crowd of people who will appreciate your giving personality. It will pay off.
Remember the old saying - What ever you give will come back tenfold - Good or bad.
Just keep being who you are.

Listen to your inner voice. You know the risks and consequences in any of your actions. It is ultimately up to you to decide what course of action you should take. Experience will eventually temper your judgment and lead you down the right path for you. When you have had enough of something, you will discard it although sometimes we go through the same lesson repeatedly until we get it right. If for some reason, fear of making waves or losing a friend keeps us from changing, we will continue to suffer the misuse until we put a stop to it. It is not selfishness, this is wisdom born of knowledge, not from others telling you what to do. You can still be caring. This is your life, not any body else's.

Don't become selfish...no one likes a selfish person. Just stand up for yourself. Honey, as long as you allow people to walk all over you, they will. Tell them nicely how you feel and that the way that they treat you upsets you. Friendship is not something that should be taken for granted. It's nice that you do care so much for others...it's time to let them know that you expect the same in return.

if people don't like you being caring to them, don't be caring to them, id doesn't mean that you should change your character. If they take you for granted, if you stop, they will notice and mention it to you. You should not take the fact that you are caring as an insult, it is a compliment, its just that they are not seeing it like that. They see the fact that you have something that they don't, and don't like it.

I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD BE "SELFISH", BUT I DO THINK YOU NEED TO LEARN TO SET "BOUNDRIES". YOU NEED HEALTHY BOUNDRIES IN ANY RELATIONSHIP. GO TO THE BOOKSTORE OR LIBRARY AND FIND BOOK'S ON THIS SUBJECT. ONE IS "CODEPENANT NO MORE" DON'T KNOW AUTHOR. ASK A TRUSTED ADULT TO HELP YOU.
