TFT monitor shave no problem for eyes...

In case of CRT , if the same is extensively used for longer hours you eyes may get strained due to radiation.

You can use good quality antiradiation screen

You can also increase the light in your room, dont work in dark specially with CRT monitors

While watching TV you sit at a distant place , but with computer you will be very near to the monitor... !!!!! so with the bigger/larger monitors you are not going to increase the distance between you and the monitor, there lies the problem....

one thing i can say.it doesn't matter whether the monitors are large or small, the CRT is worse for the eyes but if u place an ANTIGLARE SCREEN in front of u r monitor it decreases the radiation,u cannot take that screen every where u go,if u have specs take antiglare specs according to u r point and if u dont have specs also antiglare specs will be available without point.Rather than buying 17" CRT monitor, buy 15" LCD

Larger monitors are not at all good for our eyes. They do contain harmful rays which damages our eyes whereas the smaller monitor does not.

I have a Hitachi SuperScan 813 21" which is fantastic.
Resolution is far superior to LCDs (my brother has one and I don't like the pixelization it shows, especially with text).
The monitor I have has virtually no radiation which id obvious from no dust being attracted to the screen surface.
The only drawback is, it is LARGE.

Depends on a lot of factors. Any monitor can cause eye strain. It depends on the resolution, how far you sit from it, etc.
