A friend of mine gave me a hologram several years ago ( probably close to 10 years now) I used to have it on my wall, with the special light shining on it, and it looked great. Then I moved and it was in storage for probably 5 years. The other day, I took it out of storage and shone the light on it, and could barely see it anymore.

All printed materials fade after extensive exposure to ultraviolet light (sunlight). If the ink was fluorescent (glows under a black light), that has an even shorter life than average pigments, and will decompose naturally, even without being exposed to UV light.
