like the park by my house there are thousands of squreills and sometimes they are out and sometimes they are not I was wondering where they go?

squirrel, name for small or medium-sized rodents of the family Sciuridae, found throughout the world except in Australia, Madagascar, and the polar regions; it is applied especially to the tree-living species. Tree squirrels range from the size of a mouse to the size of a house cat and vary greatly in color; some Asian tree squirrels are brilliantly patterned. In addition to the tree squirrels, the family includes the ground squirrel, chipmunk, marmot, woodchuck, prairie dog, and flying squirrel.

In trees. Or did you mean geographically? If you see a big wad of leaves high in a tree, it's probably a squirrel's nest. At least that's true of gray squirrels in the NE USA. I know there are ground squirrels as well, but you wouldn't be likely to see them in a park. Red squirrels also live in trees, but I don't know if their nests are as big and messy as the gray's. There are somewhat larger squirrels called fox squirrels that live in the midwest, and even black squirrels with long ears in parts of Europe - I like all of them! Their acrobatics are a lot of fun to watch.
Most kinds are fairly tame; if you feed them, they will come quite close - maybe closer than you want! Don't try to pet them, as their bites can be very painful, and if you frighten them by touching them, all they know to do is to bite.

they live in the trees. they build nests called Dreys which are made out of twigs and leaves and lined with fur and feathers. They build them high up between two branches, but not so high where wind could damage them. Some will build dens in hollow parts of trees. there are 3 types of squirrels : ground, flying and tree. and 10 different tree spieces
The largest concentration of squirrels can be found at Lafayette Park in Wahsington DC across from the white house.

They nest inside trees, in the branches, in specially built squirrel houses, and in my nieghbors garage!
