We had nukes in the 60's and lost in Vietnam. By the way, China also has nukes and they also have rockets capable of dropping one of those nukes just about any place in the United States. So does Russia. The Chinese and Russians can stay home.
By the way, Einstein, the residual radiation left from "nuking the planet" would eventually kill every living thing in North America.

Many countries have the nuclear weaponry to end all our lives, and I wouldn't expect evryone to be completely honest about the amount of power they actually have either, it could be that a lot of places have more nuclear capabilities than people realised.

Having nuclear weapons doesn't mean anything anymore, no one will use them because they know it would be the beginning of the end of the planet. It's suicide. And to the person who said the effects of a nuclear falout don't last that long - have you heard of Cherynobl? Seriously, look it up.

The US may have the weaponry and military to do whatever it wants, but what it has been lacking since the 60's is the determination and moral fortitude to do the right thing.

This has become the cut and run politics of socialists/pacifists/democrats in DC and it is the reason we lost in Vietnam. And if they have their way again, we will lose in Iraq.

Jenny is partially right, but not everybody would die. Radiation fallout dissipates rather quickly, what would likely happen is nuclear winter which means most in the N hemisphere lucky enough to survive the blasts by being far enough away might starve in the few years after a big exchange. Australia would still be quite pleasant, tho.

.The way to kill your enemy is to Cut the head off the snake. America and Americans are wimps, they will never win another war because they have lost their will to win. The will to win means sacra fices and possibly death, Just look and Vietnam and now Iraq Americans are all ready complaining about the cost of lives and the financial cost... They have lost their will. Just look at Iran, what we are going to talk them to death? NO WILL, no way to win. Now if America has the will she can win at anything, but they are too afraid of what everyone else in the world will think of them, and yes i am American, I say lets drop a few say Iran, Iraq, syria, saudi arabia pakistan.
