well i love to read and maybe if you read more you'd be a better speller too and people would understand you better and not only that... if you couldn't read, you wouldn't understand those xbox cheats you probably use, right?

1st, let me just say that it is so totally wrong for kids to have to go back to school before Labor Day - that is just wrong.
2nd, I must say that they go back early (and your teacher gave you homework over the holiday) because No Child Left Behind is a government program that has added requirements to the school curriculum. That's right, president bush is the reason. His initiatives over the last 6 years has created a situation where teachers are working with less time and more lessons they need to teach with less money even. The fact that they have also monkeyed with the content of particular subjects in another matter.
I don't like the school system myself, but I can really sympathize with Teachers trying to do a very hard job with a lot of limitation imposed upon them and for not a whole lot of money. Most teachers are doing the best job they can in the most important job in our society - so please, don't blame your teacher. Why not spend 1 hour doing what she asked and then spend the rest of the time playing xbox?
