I mean, hard core fans know that we have been with him threw thick and thin since Book 1. So will you be truly heart-broken if Harry dies in the end? I know I will feel absolutely betrayed. I don't think I would have it in my heart to forgive J.K. Rowling.

Harry has to die, or else people will bug JK the rest of her life for sequels and stuff. They will end up both killing each other so the world is rid of Voldemort, but the price they had to pay was losing Harry Pottter.

I will be sad of course but these books are very Netty Getty they are very dark . What I mean by that is there is a lot of death in these books and there isn't much to happiness found in these books. But war is never a somewhat happy experience for anybody. Every time I read these books I sort of say if World War 2 had to be played on in this realm of fictional writing, I would say this is close to the mark as it will come, when it comes to the old saying War is Heck. Someone has to die and Rowlings is trying to make these books to true to life as possible. I started reading the books after watching the happy Hollywood ending to movie three . I was with a teenage relative who said the ending to movie three was really found in the middle of the book; and that remark got me thinking time to read the books. By reading the books I learnt a lot more about the series and the characters. I only go to the movies now to see how close the directors, writers and producer came to capturing Rowling's style of writing. Yes, I hate to see Harry go but the books and movies that were created about his world have become a cult classic and will last forever.

I'll be really ticked off. It isn't fair that J K Rowling should go to all of this trouble to make people care about Harry if she only intends to kill him off. I think that would be cruel. Also, remember, there are a lot of very young kids who read Harry Potter books. I think it sends the worst possible message to them about what happens when you try to do good.

Great Question, by the way.

I would actually be pleased if Harry died at the end. Why? No one could resurrect the character 50 years after J. K. Rowling's death and continue to write sequels, which probably wouldn't be anywhere near as good.

In a way its expected. yes, i have read the books and seen the movies. JK Rowliong does not want to continue with Harry Potter after the seventh book, hence seven years at Hogwarts. I think two characters are supposed to be nicked off though.

I totally agree with the Answer Man. If Harry were kept alive, in no matter what form of artful open-ended conclusion, I would keep picturing him being unhappy in his job, overweight and eating magic Cheetos. As sad as that is, Harry has to go, and become a martyr, a figure of hope and betterment for the wizarding world.

I will be very sad, obviously, because we've learned about the last 6 years of Harry's life and know him well. However, Voldemort is a very powerful grown man, while Harry is still a teenage. It is sort of nonsensical for Harry to survive an attack from the Dark Lord.

I would be sad but I'm not sure which ways it gonna go, if Rowling kills Harry off people will be outraged. If she lets Harry lie people will bug her to know what happens, seguels etc. There is just so much she can do with the last book.

Since JKR has said book 7 is the last. It doesn't make any difference who dies or even if everyone dies. Also killing off the main character in a series is a real good way to make sure others don't try to cash in on her creation with other books.

I would be awfully dissapointed that j.k. rowling couldn't come up with anything more creative. i mean it's not something that would totally catch me off guard. I read in a magazine that she gave an interview and stated that 2 main characters will die. My bet is on hagrid as one. Maybe Ginny will die too though she didn't really ever become a main character.
