You appear to have malware.
Get adaware, spybot, windows defender. All are free.
Install them.
Run them.
re-boot in safe mode.
run them again, and run ad/remove programs.

What O.S. are you using?
If XP, start up in Safe Mode and do an earlier restore point, then reboot. That should get you back to the point before you customized it.
If that doesn't work...... tell how and what you did to 'customize' the desktop.

Do you have a reset button. If it is a dell you do, it would be located on the back of your computer. If this does not help you may have to boot from your Operating system Cd

if you know know computers pretty well than clean out your
recycle bin or your internet cache. simple things clog up your
computer. also get something called 'registry mechanic (2006)'. pay
for the license key anf most if not all software should be fixed.

power off the pc then put it back on
