At 16 you could work at any fast food restaurant or maybe a grocery store. A 16 year old is legal to work in a lot of jobs, but most require you to be 18. A 14- or 15-year-old is not yet legal to work except in a few rare volunteer jobs like the Humane Society or maybe a nursing home.

you need to check your state and the age requirements. My state, idaho, allows 15 year olds to work in some places like TCBY or Pita Pit or other smaller sandwich places.
