Read alot. Read lots of English newspapers - you'll pick up good English that way and improve your vocabulary.
You can read the Guardian newspaper online - that's a good one.
Good luck!:)

There are several things that you can do to advance your English skills:

Read - and the more complicated the book the more you will learn, if you have a dictionary handy and look up any words you don't understand. Reading even fun books emerses you in popular language and phrases. Start of with kids books if you need to - it is more important that you can read and understand than that you are reading age appropriate material.

Listen - listen to other's speaking - in the world or on TV. You will see and begin to understand how people speak in everyday life.

Computer help - You know, this might sound strange, but I think it is worth a try. I am teaching my kids to speak and read english by using child based web sites like StarFall.com. You could learn the syntax, phonics, etc. just like a native child would. StarFall.com has stories etc. that have the written word and a button you can click to hear the words correctly. This might help someone learning english as a second language.

Ask - Ask a librarian, teacher, anyone, who might have an idea. People love to help. I had an Indian woman who would play Yahoo Pool with me and she asked me to correct her english while we played. I was happy to help and I love to play pool - fun and educational.

Peace!

A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of online courses which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

try to read newspaper daily..... the hindu, indian express, and many more newspapers are with good vocabularies which will really enrich the communication knowledge.. but never worry that u dont know english because even that would depress u so that u ll start hating english , and always try to speak in english with whomever you talk... dont think that only hard words will be enriching your prestige of speaking so boldly but do think a simple understandable english will fetch more happiness rather than doing so much bundaaaaaaasssssss this is my point of view........... take care.......

The only way to improve English speaking skills is to speak English.

See if you can visit the U.S. for a while. The more you talk, the more comfortable it will become, and the more natural.
