This is not for everyday wear; just special outfits that are very delicate and expensive (that could easily be ruined in the wash)

Read the labels, but usually it's better to wash all baby clothes before putting on the baby, as there are usually chemical resides on the clothes (unless the clothes are handmade).

I've done the same thing a lot of the others have said...

Usually, I wash anything that would come in direct contact with my daughter's skin, BUT in a case like yours...

I would just put a onesie or other clothing underneath the outfit that has not been washed. Unless your baby has VERY sensitive skin.

If you figure how long they really are going to be wearing it, it probably won't even wrinkle!!

Personally, I would try to wash all the new clothes. There may be something left over from where the clothes were made or even in shipping, chemicals or dust you really don't want in contact with your baby's skin. Check the label for washing instructions, and for the very delicate and expensive clothes, I'd suggest taking them to a dry cleaner. It usually doesn't cost very much either. I take my son's JROTC uniform which is pants, shirt with military creases and Jacket to the cleaners and it runs me about $8-10 dollars.

Yes, absolutely! Lints and other accumulated dust elements might have adverse effects on the baby (such as causing rashes, asthma, etc.) since the original manufacturing setting is designed primarily to ensure production efficiency but not sanitation efficiency.

The same practice must be made on clothes that have been stored for a long time.

Don't put the baby's health at risk just because the clothes are special. For your, which is more special, BTW. The baby who wears the outfit? or the outfit per se?

I wash all new items for all of my family. Especially when my kids were babies. If you're worried about the delicate and expensive ones you can usually hand wash those, or take them to the cleaners.

I wash everything new I buy my newborn daughter in Dreft detergant but my question to you is how many "expensive outfits" did you buy? they grow so fast and get stained so easily. If there is lace or anything like that it can get pretty itchy if its stiff. At least tumble in on air with a fabric sheet in the dryer so it doesnt irritate the babys skin.

I usually wash EVERYTHING new I buy for everyone in my family. However, I proabably wouldn't if it was a delicate expensive outfit needed for a special occasion. I wouldn't take the chance.

I think that it will be OK if you did not wash it. Use a onesie, and give him/her a bath as soon as you take it off. I have but clothes on my babies without washing. You know emergencies at the mall. We take our chance with the detergent we use. If your baby has really sensitive skin, I might reconsider.

yes, you should wash all new clothes before putting them on newborns...try letting the cleaners handle those expensive delicate ones.

Yes, I would definitely wash everything before their first use. You never know where it could have touched before you bought it. Especially if it had been returned. You never know so just be safe and read the label to wash appropriately.
