I'm a US citizen, but am interested in living in the UK for an extended period of time. I've heard that I need an EU passport to find work easily, though. Since that is not an option, does anyone know the kind of work visas that are available to Americans and how one would go about applying for one?

Hello ,

As an American seeking work in the European Union which incudes the U.K you will need to go through the usual Work Visa
channels, and that involves having an application made on your behalf by the prospective employer in the U.K via the U.K Home Office. If you are married to an E.U citizen you will find that the legal process is way behind the real life process, you will still be allowed to work until your residency Visa is issued especially being American as well ( The U.K/USA special relationship ?).

I am a US Citizen living in the EU. I am married to an EU citizen. I was just recruited to teach Conversational English at a High School Business Academy and an Adult Language School.

I'm laughing here. I don't have a green card yet. It is so weird to come from Southern California where illegal immigration and/or working without permit is a major issue and now here I am wondering what this makes me.
Good luck!
