You didn't say U.S. or word. As for old do you mean 200 BC? For U.S. coins get a, what is called a Red Book, comes out every year. Coin dealers have them and they are under 10 dollar. As for world coins you are going to have to put out some money. My books cover 1600 to 2000 cost well over a hundred dollars. Books on coins I collect or specialize in, add a few hundred more dollars. Best bet, go to library or talk to a coin dealer about what you want to collect and the books for this. One rule of coin collecting is to buy the book before the coins. Sounds like good advice, but I don't always follow it. Hope this helps.
