The device you refer to is called an inverter.

In answer to the second part of your question,
the first inverters were used in car radios so the a/c produced could be stepped up in a transformer to supply the tubes (yes, I said tubes) with the high plate voltages necessary to amplify the signal. It was a simple "vibrator." A mechanical set of points which simply vibrated (similar to a door bell) to "switch" the positive and negative voltage at the output. Obviously, this wasn't a very good A/C source and it wasn't a sine wave - more of a square wave because it was simply turning the positive and negative voltage on and off.

Inverters today use solid state devices to switch the DC - the simplest circuits use three transistors to switch the voltage at a particular frequency (usually 60 Hz) resulting in an AC output. However, this is, again, not a very good sine wave. Much more complicated (and more expensive) inverters use IC chips and many more transistors to more accurately mimic a true sine wave.

Are you from India? How plenty do you realize approximately demographics? in the journey that your allegations have been everywhere actual, why is the Christian inhabitants basically 2.3% through fact Fifties, whilst 40% of Indians fall decrease than poverty line? did you realize that there are extra advantageous than 36000 sects of Christianity? Your are generalising Christians too plenty. some Protestant communities like New existence, New Grace are lively in conversions, does not mean all Christians are changing undesirable Hindus. it rather is unhappy that so referred to as intellectuals have fallen prey to RSS propaganda. did you realize another day those goons ransack church residences, vandalise graveyards, beat pastors which bypass unreported in media. Even police and the interior of reach politicians are biased, through fact Christians at the instant are not their votebanks. My suggestion for you is to open your recommendations and please think of. In India, Christians are a delicate objective for communal forces. not all Christians want somebody to transform into their faith, some very few do it. end generalising. @Harshit : you think of you realize alot approximately them? it fairly is through fact of people such as you, India will alqays stay a 0.33 worldwide u . s . a ... Politicians prefer to maintain the main considerable matters aside and gas the communal passions of common Indians. You my chum have fallen prey. stable good fortune. INDIA SHINING.

I don't think such a device exist .Even discrete oscillator IC still need external components to make circuit working.
What is your application? Is the space so critical?

It is called inverter available in many electronics, auto stores like radio schak etc. they vary in prices $200 to thousands of dollars.

Depending uopn your use like wattage, quality of the output like true sine wave , or modified sinewave or pulse you can choose the right one
