I am a 51 year old woman. I lived the 60's and 70's, though I can't remember a lot of it. With the brain cells I have left,I can assure you that I am living proof that pot does not necessarily lead to harder drugs. I did experiment with acid and other hallucinogenics as well as cocaine and meth. I always felt that I just enjoyed the high from weed a lot more. I smoked regularly, and occasionally enjoyed brownies, for well over 30 years and I only did the other stuff for a couple of years. I still get high occasionally. Marijuana is much safer and less harmful than alcohol. I am hoping that in my lifetime we will see it legalized.

Actually the first drug I ever tried was LSD when I was 21. It took a while to be able to smoke stuff since I didn't smoke cigarettes then. Over the next 12 years I smoked marijuana occasionally but rarely did acid. I never ever tried cocaine, heroine or anything else.

I'm friends with one of the most well respected Pro-Marijuana leaders in the whole world... I've read his books and conversed with him on numerous occasions...

It is a proven fact that Marijuana leads to hard core drugs in people with SEVERE types of mental illness... It is also proven that Marijuana is a gateway drug for people who intend on abusing other drugs for recreation use....

BUT IT IS NOT A GATEWAY DRUG for people who use it for medical purposes or use small quantities for recreational use... With all of this said... It is obvious that Marijuana does not, under any circumstances lead to hard core drugs unless the person is willingly accepting the consequences of using hardcore drugs.

Don't believe me? Read Marihuana Reconsidered...

It doesn't. The physiology of the brain is what leads to 'other drugs' based on the brain's chemical reaction. There are no addictive properties in marijuana. The government ( and public schools ) tell us this, like the pledge of allegiance and all the prayer mumbo jumbo, as part of the "good American indoctrination program'. THere are people who use 'other drugs' that have never had marijuana in their lives ( problems with smoke in the lungs, etc ) so the marijuana factor is rhetoric . . .like breathing leads to hard drugs or drinking water leads to hard drugs. If they are concerned about what leads to hard drugs, they should classify nicotine as an addictive narcotic, not to mention alcohol. Nicotine is a hard drug as everyone knows yet the government would rather have you smoke that than marijuana because the marijuana market is not an American industry and tobacco is.

i don't, but i never had a problem and most of the people i know never had a problem. if you ask a cop, the answer is a resounding, "yes." my experience comes from a smaller and more homogenous group. the cop's experience comes from a broader selection because s/he is exposed to it more and in a different environment.

that is such a total lie, i smoked weed for over 20 years and never got addicted to hard drugs, not to say that i didnt try coke and lsd a few times, but i didnt like the buzz so i never did it again. my idea of a really hard drug is alcohol, i have been an alcoholic for years, i just cant quit, it has a strong hold on me. but when i finally quit smoking weed after that many years i had no side effects at all, no shakes or anything, if i dont drink everyday i get the shakes really bad. and i was a big smoker, atleast an ounce a week. and all those years of smoking pot i can never recall doing anything that i regret being under the influence of it. i can recall dozens of times i have done really stupid things when i was drunk. and thats only what i remember, my memory is really bad after drinking, i wake up and have no idea where im at or what ive done, smoking weed i would always wake up with a clear head and remember everything from the day before. if marijuana was legalized and alcohol was outlawed i think society would be a much better place. i dont have any children myself, but if i did and i found out they were drinking and smoking weed i would rather have them just smoke weed, im sure it must have some negative effects on a persons body. but i dont see it. please stay away from crack and meth and the other hard drugs, most of that stuff is made from really bad chemicals like battery acid and starting fluid for cars. but marijuana is just a natural plant. sure it has chemicals in it. naturally produced chemicals. but tomatoes or lettuce or anything else has chemicals also. if youre gonna do drugs just be cautious. alcohol is very addictive, so just do it in moderation, if you feel the need to drink everyday then its getting to be a serious problem. but i really smoked weed for over 20 years and when i quit it didnt bother me at all. and i was a heavy smoker. the nicotine in cigarettes i believe is more potent, because i have tried many times to quit smoking cigarettes. crushed them up and threw them in the trash, only to wake up and dig around in the trash to find one. just keep smoking the weed if thats what you want. its not really a hardcore drug, but this is just my opinion. and also over my many years of smoking i have also gotten high with a few doctors and one lawyer, and even the doctors told me that there has never ever been even one case of a person overdosing on marijuana, you will get tired and fall asleep before you can smoke that much. but people die from alcohol poisoning from drinking too much everyday. most all my friends still smoke weed. and very few of them do any hard drugs either. and my friends go from the age of 18 to 60. and i have even smoked with a guy that was in his 80s. also most people in wheelchairs smoke. just to relax there nerves. and they like the effect. the only thing that leads to hardcore drugs is if you want to become a hardcore drug addict. if someone ever offers crack or meth ( just say no ) i know thats an old statement but its good to use. please be safe, and have a nice time smoking weed. and if you drink alcohol please dont do it often. it sucks being an alcoholic. its a very hard life. i vomit almost daily because my insides are so tore up. i hope this helps you. just be safe.

i dont i think people do hard core drugs because they just want to try them it isnt because of a reaction from weed ive went to school with guys who have smoked weed and only weed for years 10 years to be exact they never said they wanted something stronger.

Although many people will swear that it doesn't I know from experience that it does. My brother, sister and two of my kids started out 'just smoking pot'....and ended up doing just about everything else. So I say it does lead to hard core drugs.
