RE:
I need suggestion on how to enduce labor!?
I am nearly 39 weeks pregnant and I am very uncomfortable. I have had headaches for days. I've had a lot of lower abdomenial pains (I think those are the baby moving down) and I had a non-stress test done the other day and it showed I was having mild irregular contractions. I am not dialated...

cyotec is dangerous! there have been exposes all over the place about how bad it is. don't listen to those posters!
I'm so sorry to hear about your discomfort. I know the feeling of wanting to be done. You can try the natural inducing techniques but in the end, it's the baby who puts out a hormone to stop labor, so all those old wives tales only work if you're already on the brink to begin with. (sorry, ducking).
Right now the best thing you can do is take a nap every day, drink as much water as you possibly can (so when you start labor you're not dehydrated -- dehydraton makes contractions much more painful) and try to enjoy your last days of the baby being perfectly fed, not needing a change and in the perfect environment (from the baby's perpsective heh-heh).
Pretty soon it'll be sleepless nights and breastfeeding issues, and you'll be remembering how easy pregnancy was.... :-)

The reason he will not induce you is because you are neither dilated nor effaced. In order for him to have induced your relative so early, there had to be a medical reason for intervention. I don't think you are ready to go into labor, and anything I can recommend to help you will not work if there is not some dilation or effacement present, and could actually do harm, instead! Your cervix must be ripe or softened quite a bit first. Keep in mind it can be completely normal not to deliver until 42 weeks, and not be considered past term. Your due date could be off by that much. If you have never had any cervical surgeries, I would not be concerned, and would be extremely careful not to stress your baby at this time. Your cervix is not prepped for dilation, and you will only hurt baby, and cause yourself considerable discomfort. Take care, and try to relax as much as you can. Go to the chiropractor. Often, they can give you an adjustment to ease your discomfort, and that may even help move things along! If your headaches are daily, and really bothering you, please go in to have your blood pressure checked, and your urine checked for ketones. Just want to be sure you are not pre-eclamptic.
Cytotec carries a lot of risk, including the risk of uterine rupture!!! If your cervix is not ripe, induction can cause your uterus to rupture, possibly killing you, and in most cases certainly killing your baby. They will not use this in your situation.

CASTOR OIL- chase it with OJ and it's really not that bad. Just stay near a bathroom and remember that none of the natural methods for inducing labor will really work unless your body is ready. The last week is always the worse, but think about how far you've come-you made it through the morning sickness, the aching feet and the strange cravings-and it can't go on forever.
Good Luck!

It's rough, but it's almost over. I remember hardly being able to breathe when laying on my back, and not be able to sleep more than a few minutes because of the constant jumping on my bladder.
From my own experiences and observations, however, I would avoid induction at all costs. Every single woman I know, every single one, who was induced had longer, more painful labors and more medical complications than those going natural.
In fact, I had two natural child births, but didn't stop bleeding after the second, and so I had to go on pictocin after delivery. Pictocin, i believe, is used to induce. The pain from pictocin was FAAAARRRRRR worse than my natural labor pains. Far worse. A really lousy deal for women, I'd say.
My mom swam in the ocean to try to make me come early, didn't work; drank castor oil or cod liver oil and only got cramps and diarreah for that trouble.
I found taking long warm showers really helped. In fact, I just stayed in the shower for most of my second labor. Read an entire book!
All this pain and discomfort is good training for putting the baby first!
Remember, formula use lowers the iq and vastly increases the risk of diabetes. Day care use devastates infants and toddlers. It hurts them emotionally, physically, and intellectually. It also makes daddy approve of them less and mommy feel more detached. It hurts IQ, social skills, and attachment to mommy. Nursing your child will make mothering so easy - you're always ready, baby can sleep with you at night and you don't even have to get up to feed her/him. Babies who are nursed are easier to comfort and more motivated to please mommy. It's almost like we evolved that way or something.
Hang in there, darling, you're almost there! Good job!

You'll hear it again and again but sex and walking are the best bet. However you should know that your probably better off to wait for things to happen naturally. They tried to induce me with my first and I ended up with a c-section. I just gave birth to my second naturally but I had to fight with my doctors not to try to induce me. I was overdue and have high blood pressure so they wanted to induce but I didn't want another c-section. I fairly easily gave birth to a 8lb 10 oz baby. Trust me in the end it will be worth the wait because you have no idea how long the discomfort can go on if you have a c-section.

Your doctor knows why he do not want to induce your labor and there a lot of reasons why the labor has to be induced as in your sister's case, so do not be impatient every women is less or more uncomfortable in the last stage of pregnancy. Good luck

If your doctor doesn't want to induce labor there is probably a reason.. if you think about it a week isn't that long to wait. It will be ok I hope all goes well for you. Try walking. With my first baby I walked and walked under doctor's orders to help me dilate let me know how things go
