I've read news articles about impossible things that were performed by people in critical situations ...eg ...a mother who was able to lift up a heavy car when her child was pinned under it ....

Is there any scientific explaination of such impossible strength that the woman possessed during this situation ?

Also there are people who are able to bend metallic objects like a spoon ...how could the mind achieve this or is this just a trick ?

Ok, the spoon trick is nothing more than a trick. They put a drop of acid on thier fingers and rub it into the spoon and it starts to bend.

Now, for the "super woman"...

You can do great feats when you 'phyche' yourself up. What your basically doing is detaching your conciousness from your physical self, and you have an adrenelin "rush" and thus when your conciousness is detached, it simply doesnt tell you that "its impossible to do", you simply "do it" and after the deed is done, then your body goes into a "burn out" stage, because you used up a tremendous amount of adreneline.

Yes, for every action, there is an eaqual and opposite reaction, so that if you use a tremendous amount of adreneline, you are going to be weak and depressed for a bit until your adreneline starts to build back up in the body. It will leave you shaky, possibly sweaty, and drained of energy for awhile.

Anyone who can successfully detach themselves from thier physcal being..(mediation is a great way of doing this), is capable of great "feats" of strenght.

I wish you well..

Seemingly impossible feats of human, adrenalin fueled strength have been recorded involving people under great stress. There is no "mind over matter" involved with these events - it is simply an example of the human strength potential when the occasion calls for action.

There has never been a documented case of mind control over inanimate objects (such as your example of bending a spoon ) that has any validity. I like to call such phenomenon, "smoke and mirrors."

The spoon bending is almost certainly an illusion.

Feats of superhuman strength, however, are real and have been documented. When people are in extreme situations the body releases an enormous flood of adrenaline (a.k.a. epinepherine) which has several effects: It drives the hart rate and breathing rate up and blocks sensations of pain, for example. So people who cannot normally lift 100 kilograms can, for a brief period, lift a car.

These are definitely temporary effects, and the person attempting these risks serious injury. But peoples' lives have been saved from adrenaline-soaked rescuers that normally would never be able to achieve those physical feats.

Theres is obviously a limit to what each of us can physically do, but that limit is far higher than you would imagine. The two things which stop us reaching the limit are not believing we can do it and hence not giving 100% and pain.
You can train yourself to get over the first hurdle by mental preparation or by gradually pushing your limits to get closer and closer.
Its also possible to train yourself a certain extent to ignore pain or some people lose this due to a dissability (such as lepracy) and can do amazing things (though most probably damaging their body).
I dont believe you can bend spoons by the power of the mind.

Yes, there are some people who do unbelieveable things especially when their love ones are the one get hurt. They don't feel the pain or stress but after their love ones is being saved then they realised what they have done. But this is just a small group of people with such ability

bending keys, spoons and the like is a magic trick. (they use solder and warm with rubbing to bend). Adrenaline is resposible for most of the incidents. Some People have incredible strength when called into action.

the mother was able to lift a car when her child was pinned in it did because of the sympathetic nervous system-- this is responsible for such acts... whenever the body is in emergency, it produces hormones (adrenaline) that gives the energy to do things which we think is impossible for someone to do in normal conditions... adrenaline releases energy to be used by the mother...the will of the mother to save her child triggers the production of adrenaline, that's why she was able to lift the car.

Well, although I don't believe in the car lifting story ( unless its a toy car or something =P ), adrenaline can allow people to do extraodinary things, like running significantly faster than ever before. I believe the spoon bending is a trick.

I can only tell you this much

If you want to control something with your mind it do this:

Say for instance, you want to lift up a spoon on the table using only your mind

You have to visualize the spoon rising through the air in front of your eyes.. Basically u have to "see" the spoon rising as you see everything around you.. It is very difficult as you cannot see something rising when it isn't.. It needs alot of practice to master

It's a trick.

Do an experiment. Concentrate really hard about bending reality with your mind. Won't work.

Google a guy named The Amazing Randi.

Skepticism is your friend. :)
