Try a mixture of Oat Bran, Flax Meal, Almonds, Raisins. Mix with half yogurt (any flavor but make sure it doesn't have corn syrup in it) and half rice milk. Let set in the fridge for 20 minutes. Stir. Eat. It really tastes yummy and is excellent for cholesterol.

Make sure she steers clear of simple sugars in her diet. They contribute to high triglycerides and cholesterol. I would also try to avoid chemical additives. The liver has to process most chemicals put into the body. Her liver needs to be free to do it's normal functions rather than be constantly occupied with cleansing chemicals. When the liver (and kidneys) can't rid the body of toxins, it pushes those toxins to other parts of the body like the joints or skin. My guess is that this is what happened with the med she was on.

Best of luck.

I agree with a smoothie. You may know this but eating oats everyday takes cholesterol away. Also cut down her meat intake.

I like my flaxseed in oat bran cereal, to which I add lecithin granules.
You can add flaxseed, oat bran, and lecithin to anything you bake; try to stick with whole grain flours: muffins, pancakes, cookies (use Splenda for sweetener).
Search Yahoo for "Flaxseed recipes"; I bet you will be amazed at how many are there!

I put whole flax seeds (they're pretty small) in my oatmeal after it's done cooking. I just mix it in and you can't even taste it. The oatmeal itself is good for choloesterol too.
