Yes. Not only does it help the teacher guage where their student(s) may be at in their development level, it also helps the teacher know where the kids can improve. So she can plan her next lesson plan and report to her superiors as to what is needed in her class or what she needs to spend more time on.

I am a teacher and I hate homework more than most students. Most schools require teachers to give homework, and most teachers seem to love grading it and holding over kids heads, and I don't get it. I believe that too much homework is assigned, and teachers spend too much time grading it. Kids should work harder in school, maybe even have a bit longer school day, and have time to relax and play at home. It is very important to read every day, though. Please do that.

It gives them a Tylenol headache. The reading of the answers can cause eye strain. They need to really get the idea of good penmanship across even if it Must count as part of the score on all tests. Not everyone will grow up the be a doctor or president of the US where penmanship doesn't matter. LOL
Some of the answers can give them a really good laugh.

Well, they have to grade it, and I assure you, they do a lot of grading at home. My problem with homework is Friday assignments. Come on, can't we just have weekends with just family stuff going on? I get really irritated at teachers that assign my kids Friday homework.
