I see a speech pathologist,a neuroloigest,an ear specialest, and a neuropsycologist.I try not to let people that know me here about these doctors because I dont want people to think I'm retarted.I dont know if my family knows I'm retarted and just wont tell me.
The question is:
Is a neuropsycologist a "nut"doctor?

You are not retarded or crazy. Psychologists are not for crazy people, they are for people who need help with their thoughts. They help people correct their route of thinking which takes many many years. You are seeing more then one doctor because of the severity of your damages. Neuro = nerves. I am assuming that you are seeing a neuropsychologist bc some of your cognitive impairments may be due to nerve damage from your accident. Good luck to you.

no, a neuropsychologist is a person that studies the function of various parts of the brain on human behavior. a psychiatrist is an MD and PhD in Psychology, a "nut" doctor as you call it, she/he can prescribe medication and generally deal with people with a mental illness. you dont need to have a mental illness to deal with a neuropsychologist. they generally work with people who have some type of brain damange or neurological problem.

a neuropsyhologist is a psyhologist that specializes on neuronic disorders....being a psychologist their function is limited only into introspection of the well being of the patient..they are not allowed to give prescriptions to patients.. as for a psychiatrist they are for those persons that have severe mentall illness.
