i am tryn to decide who i want as my back up QB should i keep Frye or get Alex Smith instead?

I'm very concerned you are asking this question! LOL! No, really. What's up? Do you really need to pick between these two QBs? The logical answer is Frye. He has the better weapons...by far.
I realize you can't get yourself a Manning, but see if you can find yourself a Simms, Leftwich, Favre, Brunnell, or McNair before you commit to Frye or Smith. Any of those guys should be far more solid.
If fate has just dealt you a raw deal and this truly is all that is left, then I strongly suggest you stay as far away from Alex Smith as possible. Good luck.

I don't know anything about Alex Smith. but I would pick him over Charlie Frye.

charlie frye. Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow, and big Joe are all good targets. Who does SF have? Vernon Davis who will struggle as a rookie?

they are both terrible but i would say that Smith will probably be better at not sucking so bad!!
