rock music is generally better because it has more of an exciting beat and you also know that rock music has some very talented musicians behind the music instead of pop where they sit a monkey behind a synthesiser and seat what crap he can throw at them.

There are many songs that would fall into both categories.
If you enjoy a particular song, you shouldn't care whether it's rock, pop, r&b, alternative,etc. In fact there's lots of songs that can't be pigeon holed.
I don't believe the word "better" can really be applied to music. I'm a musical connoisseur myself with an extension collection of recordings which include blues, jazz, classical, country, soul, rock, alternative, rap, metal, ect. I have recordings of music that were composed dating back to the 10th century through the end of the 20th century.
I've kept my mind open to experience all types of music.and my life has been enriched because of that.
