Love is the meaning behind everything. It is what makes life worth living. It is what we exist to experience and without it we suffer greatly.
And then there's romantic love which I've heard described as a temporary maladjustment of the brain usually lasting for about two years. The two year bit was very accurate when I fell (good word for it) in love and discovered it was unrequited. The initial pain was the worst I've ever experienced but it gradually lessened and I was 'normal' again two years later - I still love her but am no longer 'in love' and do not suffer because I am not loved (romantically) in return by this particular person.
Would I choose to avoid the experience had I the chance to live throught that period again? No! I would wish to avoid the suffering but not the experience of loving so madly and deeply and since the two went together I'll take them both.
Shakespeare put it better than I ever could:
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Hi, I cant actually describe to you what love is because we all experience it in different ways. I truly can say that I was in love and is still loving. I think it is a feeling that you get, but jet again what about fear and other emotions. I feel that it is when you always put yourself in second place when it comes to that person, and you always try to make it the best for them. In a teenagers point you will hear that you cant stop thinking about that person and want to be with them all the time, and yes it is true, but its just another feeling. I know that I will give my life for that person and always be the best I know I can be for them. Its about thinking not only about yourself but about them, care, honesty and a bond like no other. To always feel that you still have the butterfly feeling, but love takes work and time. Thats how I see it and love it

That's a good question, a very worth while one to contemplate.
Love to me, is a simultaneous energy experinced by two mutual partners, it's a sharing of eachothers energies.
For example a man may see a women who he likes very much, and who the women has an interest in of him too. When they meet eyes, they both experience shared feelings of energy, from the visual observation of these feelings in eachother for eachother. However although they are individually giving themselves these energies through their own brains, it takes the special energies of these two people, who both love each other to create this energy that they both can give to one another; like a translucent wave of energy, that can be given to person to person without ever actually being anything physical.
I also don't believe that sex or sexual intimacy can be considered love.
As I believe that sex with one another is simply a "Release" of emotions etc. Where as, love is more to do with care. It is the mutual sharing of care for one another, that I believe could be interpreted as Love.
I think there is more Love in a Hug, then there is in a moment of sex. For the energies that are shared with one another in an intimate hug whith eachother; is the sharing of energies that come from the care, respect and the need each other has for one another. This is felt in sex too, and it is the only thing I would label as "making Love". But I don't believe it is seen or felt as much.
So therefore I believe that Love is Care. It is unconditional Care for one another, a care that creates an energy that is purely unselfish and surves only to protect and ensure the survival and happiness of who ever the reciever of that care is, I think this is what Love is. :]

Love is a funny feeling in your stomach that keeps you from thinking straight or making any sense when you speak. Love also can make you say things that you normally would keep to yourself, because you regret saying them later. Love takes away your control and your sense of discretion, which can lead to many wonderful things.

Love is trusting someone, and enjoying their company. It doesn't have to be romantic, or even mutual. But if you like a person and trust them and enjoy spending time with them, then you love them.

being with someone you want to wake up in the morning and see their face everyday for the rest of your life. someone you can't get out of your head. someone you would do absolutely anything for because in the end, they would be worth it. someone that makes your stomach feel queasy and when you're with them, it's the best place you could ever be.

love is that thing you reach for but can't touch, that thing that compels you to do the silliest acts. It's that thing that can make you laugh and cry at the same time. but above all it's that thing that saves you while killing you!!
