It is not a blind support for Israel, but continued fulfillment of treaties and agreements that have been in place since the 1950s. When a government makes an agreement with another government, then each subsequent government is obliged to keep enforcing and practicing under said treaty. That's why it was such a big deal that Bush pulled out of the 1972 Kyoto treaty and the world was up in arms. Bush was right for pulling out, but . . . it was unprecidented.

Likewise, when Yitzak Rabin made agreements with Yessir Arafat, when Benyamin Netanyahu came into power -- a PM at the total opposite end of the political spectrum, Ben was bound by Rabin's agreements with Arafat, and it hamstrung his administration.

Aside from the legal-political side, we also gain by supporting Israel. They are the only truly democratic nation in the enite Middle East and literally keeps the Arab nations from becoming the United States of Arabia. I could list 500 different ways we benefit from supporting Israel, but I don't have time for that.

Of course it is not blindly! The US government does it for a reason. So the question should be whether or not it is a good reason.

Of course we do. They must have something on us. Or maybe its leftover guilt from not stopping the Holocaust, when as the great champions of freedom and liberty for all we should have!
