Of course. They will be very useful if we know how to control them. For something that small, it will take too much trouble to repair or maintain them. Manufacturing them is also tedious. The best is if we can make 100 then the 100 can make themselves when necessary. So 100 will become 200 then 400 .... the problem comes if something goes wrong and the replication cannot be stop properly. Then they will replicate out of control. If its in a laboratory, it is still ok but what if they are in the human body clearing your blood vessels when they suddenly go crazy? Having said that, the applications of nanotechnology is really near limitless.

They already exist in the laboratory, though they're far from practical at this stage. But saying that, there are some very impressive technologies in the pipeline.

Why not we have the technology. I'm sure they are already out there. They are very simple little machines. Not hard to make in our age of discovery
