Do you really think so? Ads are for a wide variety of target customers. Gullibles are one of those. Ads are a media for communicating between a communicator who has something to offer and the customer who may be interested in the offer. The power of ads you must acknowledge.

"only"?? Of course not. Say someone develops a new product, if it is not avdvertised no one will ever know about it. There are actual difference in prices for the same item / service. It is a heck of a lot easier (and less expensive), to peruse ads than to call or travel all over the country to find the best deal.

Advertising gives us information! A lot of ads do make unwarrented claims, but any one who has a bit of sense can figure this out. So sometimes the info we get is where not to shop. This can be most valuable.

No advertisements get through to us all. We all need to accumulate information on products and services. Even though we know adverts are biased we still use the information contained in them.

Advertisements also mold the image of a brand so even if you don't believe in the advert you may still buy because you know the product is thought of as cool because of its adverts.

Even the non-gullible have sub-consciouses to be persuaded.

Yes, I work in a car dealership, trust me the ads are all lies that cloud the minds of the weak.

No, they're for everyone.

We've all been advertised to and influenced so many times in so many ways, ads are almost indistinguisable from anything else.
