I have met "masculine" straight men, and women, "masculine" gay men, and women. The same can be said about "femininity"... But most of us are varying degrees of both. In other words, to each their own... Masculinity I would have to say, is confidence, and strength (emotionally, and physically).

You're wallowing around in the double standard. Masculinity is a thing of the past if you ask me. I'm not saying everyone accepts this. I'm sure there are plenty of women who still accept the double standard. Masculinity is basically, being the guy in charge. The more power you have over situations, the more masculine you are. But women can do that too nowadays...... and still remain feminine.

it’s hard to talk about modern manhood is that masculinity as a category is being evacuated. Traits we used to call masculine we now recognize as adult, butch, metrosexual, geeky, liberal or conservative… We can no longer describe masculinity because even though sociology tells us we live in a gendered world, we no longer feel comfortable claiming traits for genders...

that is a good question since men are so misunderstood now days....masculin means energy to create or destroy thats the basic function. All that testosteron running around your brain, blood and balls should be used to do good....BUT..nobody does it...there is no creativity...there is a lot of destraction and self destraction now days....nobody actually creates...thats why real men dont exists anymore...they stoped believing and all they do is sit around w@nk, watch TV, and talk bullsh!t instead of doing stuff...good stuff!!!

Courage. Even though women are also courageous, masculinity is about facing one's worst fears, for example death on the battlefield or being crippled for life, and standing up to one's fears.

Hi, I believe that it is in the eye of the beholder. We all have different ways of looking at someone, and so we describe it otherwise. Its is how you want to see it but in the end it all fades away.
