'Flippant' means treating serious subjects with unbecoming lack of thought and in a frivolous way, thereby showing disrespect. ie., some of the serious questions on this site are given flippant answers!

The spelling is Flippant and most people don't know how to spell it - I too may be wrong - so nothing to worry about - we all learn sometime or the other.
Flippant means a non serious way of talking - to take the subject under discussion lightly and to talk lightly and frivilously about the topic at hand.
