I am originally from Massachusetts and now I live in Germany. This May, when it got warm, I came home one night to find the largest spider I had ever seen in person on my wall. I am terrified of spiders and have had to deal with them all summer almost daily. It is to the point where I leave the porch light on in hopes it deters them a little, because they don't seem to like the light and I end up checking my house every night before I can go to bed. I have set foggers off in the basement and have a can of Raid household and Garden on hand.

Is there anything else I might try to keep them as few as possible?

We use foggers in our basement and in our house. We plan a trip for the day and leave after we set them off.

The other thing that you must do is spray around the perimeter of your house, both inside and out. We've found that this is actually more effective than setting off foggers. You can find the right bug spray wherever you buy your other bug deterents.Good luck.

Interesting question. In Florida they never die.

But when I am having my lawn sprayed for bugs and fertilized, we had none in the house after the rains started and I stopped the service I am seeing them again.

A termite Guy told us this last week after fogging a house for termites (this stuff will kill people) spiders lay on their backs like they are dead. Then a day or two later they flip over shake themselves off and walk away.

Go Figure. I have no good solution. The can of spray sounds as good as anything else.

i would call one out to spray in and outside real good. Then i would go to my local feed store and ask what is the best thing to us for a serious spider problem. I know how u feel i really really hate spiders.

I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but spiders are in fact your natural vacuum cleaners. Why you do not see cockroaches or slugs, termites or other insects in your home is because they are clearing it all up for you. If you clean their spider web, they tend to stay hidden, but try to leave them alone or put them outside. They are your friend.

Sprinkle sulphur around the outside perimeter of your house and have a professional spray the inside of your house. Once you have them out of your house you can use the sulphur periodically and keep them outside. This also works on snakes.

Why don't you just get some bug spray, and spray the web, the spider, and any eggs you may find.

some housecats kill (and sometimes eat) spiders. you may want to look into having a pet of some sort like a cat that will kill any of the big spiders that wander into your house.

will sound a little odd, but I have heard vanilla extract mixed in water in a spray bottle, spray corners, around base boards etc.
